Hello all

I have a early Gew 88 1890 with serial number 282C in orginal condition number 72 ussied to the 3rd Res inf.
Is there many early rifles around with low serials numbers ?

cheers

Hi 1888 I would say yes most all you see are 4 digit serial number & lower numbers seem to command higher prices when selling

Yes would like to see photo's of receiver markings to see what you have there, now because there were so many manufactures of the Gew 88 and the German army only used serial numbers from 1 up to 9999 for that years first batch followed by a consecutive letter for every other 9999 made in that calendar year, making any rifles numbered from 1 up to 999 only 10% of the rifles produced for that letter batch of that particular year, that is why a low digit rifle is rare being 10% of every 9999, hope that's not to confusing. :geek:
