War bond rifle?
War bond rifle?
Thanks for the add to the group! I recently picked up a Gew 88 at an auction. It has a Lowe Berlin receiver marked 1891. The bolt group numbers match with the firing pin clipped. The rest of the rifles major components match except for the barrel bands. It has a plug in the breach and at the muzzle. It is in pretty good condition. Wondering if I should leave it alone or unplug it and make it operational. I'd rather do the latter. As piece of history do I leave the barrel alone and find another? Thanks for the input.

Hi you have a war bonds rifle like you mentioned I would leave it alone if you do decide to change barrel dont forget the receiver can be bent when removing the barrel & Welcome to the forum
