That's the latest date I have seen. I just shot mine yesterday. It's pretty accurate. Any Idea what a star mark means? I think mines a 1938 now I have to look. I shoot full bore Turk surplus out of it. My bolt is cz made for Turkey too. I really like this rifle. I want to figure out how to put some glass on it.

I believe the star mark is Turkish like the crescent moon the star mark is on the receiver of another Turked 88 I have from 1935 I believe, usually don't see that date a lot either. I have seen 1940 dated before but not 1941 :)

Picked up this rifle for my son's high school graduation. Someone shortened it but did a very nice job. Pretty cool rifle for a teenager who's really into pre WW1 German stuff!

@ SEABEE general consensus is your son's rifle was shortened by Turkey. Your son is pretty cool to be interested in WW1 & so is Dad for buying such a great gift. Kudos

Yes very good shape and I have shot it. As soon as it warms up I will do a range test.
